It’s a mess : mastering an oversized outfit with a bohemian touch

I have a friend who is a master of an oversized outfit expertise. I mean, there’s no single person in the whole world who is not familiar with the “oversized top, skinny bottom” (or vice versa) rule when it comes to a casual style. On the other side, we’ve seen plenty of breathtaking street style examples of oversized everything. I might feel myself more down to earth and not in a phase of oversized outfit extravaganza experiments though (hats off to Maja Wyh). What I know for sure, and my friend proved it with her personal oversized everything style for so many times, you can’t go wrong playing around with one size bigger t-shirts, boyfriend jeans or chunky sweaters. When I feel like a “hot mess”, I usually wear a grey t-shirt, converse and skinny jeans. When I feel like a “hot and relaxed mess”, I wear this outfit – “stolen from boyfriend” striped button up shirt (actually, not stolen, but scored for a ~ drum rolls ~ $1 at a yard sale), distressed boyfriend jeans, neutral color espadrilles and a crochet cardigan to add a bohemian spice to the look. Cozy, neat, simple.

  • Gah-I am in LOVE with your styling! Your blog completely stands apart with your unique look. So happy I found you 🙂

    • Thank you so much, Nicki! Feels so good to find a blog that is your absolute “cup of tea”, happy here as well! And thank you so much for linking up with me for December Link Party, your posts are super lovely and full of warm atmosphere!:)

  • I’ve always been envious of girls who can borrow their partner’s clothes. My husband wear XL and I wear XS so whenever I try to wear his shirt, I look like I’m drawing in it. LOL! Love this relaxed outfit, what a great casual look.

    • Haha, I hear you, Shireen!:)) My husband wears M or L, I find myself super lucky! Though, the last time I’ve ordered sweatpants from H&M online (and I really needed basic black ones) in S size, they came so huuuge, so I had to pass them to Yossi and they fit him perfectly:)) That’s what they call Power Couple!;)

  • I love this look! Especially your jeans

    • Thank you, Laura! They are really-really old ones from H&M, but all I can say is that they are like wine, getting better with age:))

  • I’m digging this! I think you nailed it- and I hear you, while I want to lounge around + run errands in super boyfriend-y oversized stuff, sometimes I feel sloppy. This definitely is not sloppy; this is perfect!

    • Thank you, Ashley! It can be tricky to master oversized items, but practice makes perfect;)!

  • You look great! I have yet to master the oversized look… I feel like I look too big on top and too skinny on the bottom… so, basically like an ice cream cone >_< I'll keep trying!! 😉

    • Thanks,Jessica! Yup, that’s exactly what I was talking about in the post – oversized bottom OR top is a classical scenario, but taking it to the next level of relaxed look – oversize it all!:)

  • Welp, I’d wear this whole outfit in a heartbeat. I’ve been actually getting more and more into the while baggy look thing, and it’s becoming one of my favorite go-tos. I always feel ridiculously feminine in it- something about swimming in your jeans and cardis does that to a gal, haha. Love how you styled this!
