Here we are, warm fall has switched with winter and besides the reminder on the calendar, I can tell that by the grey skies and 24 hours of rain yesterday. But I still enjoy the cold weather, that means more opportunities of layers for me! Honestly, the whole difference I’ve noticed by now between fall outfit and winter outfit in California is basically a plus one layer. Which is a pleasant “plus one” by all means.
Since I’ve uncluttered my closet and started to follow the 5 piece bohemian wardrobe theory, my life has changed. I stick to neutral colors – grey, black, white and earthy shades. I became a hat person. I am not afraid of looking boring in grey outfit. I know that chunky knit cardigan can save any situation. I got to love bohemian paisley print dresses even more (that’s why I scored two more on Zara black friday sale!). I worship ankle boots that I believe are appropriate for any occasion all year round.
So in addition to today’s neutral colors winter outfit of Topshop black skinny jeans with arrow pattern and Urban Outfitters striped shirt, my “plus one” is very casual, very basic, but has a very free spirit name. As you might noticed from this earthy colors outfit post where I wrote a love ode to different shades of oatmeal, latte and whipped cream, I am very passionate about color names. No, not freaky at all. Come on, I am not the only one who picks the nail polish color by it’s name – how can I not prefer the Essie’s “She’s pampered” to a 76437 color bottle? Ridiculous, don’t you think!? So when my friend Google told me that terra cotta color of the United Colors of Benetton wool cardigan that I wore today means “baked earth”, it felt to me like a sip of hot and well spiced chai latte, coming through my lips and warming all the inside of my color-names-sensitive stomach into a moment of total pleasure.
Baked earth. Perfect short name for a winter bohemian outfit. ( and even if it doesn’t look like a winter outfit, the december title on the calendar says it actually is)
Striped shirt – Urban Outfitters // Wool Cardigan – United Colors of Benetton // Arrow pattern skinny jeans – Topshop // Ankle boots and necklace – Forever21 // Bag – vintage
